Dr Asmat qualified is currently working as a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist within the NHS in Forensic Services.
My Story
I qualified as a medical doctor and went on to complete my specialist training in psychiatry. I currently work as a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist within the NHS in Forensic Services. I have experience in assessing and treating a wide range of mental health conditions in adults of working age. I have a specialist interest in Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
Alongside my clinical responsibilities, I am an Honorary Teaching Fellow at Brighton and Sussex Medical School, where I am actively involved in the teaching and supervision of medical students and psychiatry trainees. Education and mentorship matter deeply to me, investing in the next generation of psychiatrists is something I take genuine pride in.
In my private practice, I offer comprehensive psychiatric assessments and evidence-based treatment for a broad range of conditions including:
-
Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD)
-
Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
-
Bipolar Disorder
-
Depressive Disorders
-
Anxiety Disorders
-
Post Traumatic Stress Disorder
I am committed to delivering care that is truly patient-centred. I believe every person I see deserves a treatment plan that is tailored specifically to them. My aim is always to support long-term mental health and wellbeing and recovery.
I am a Section 12 approved clinician and a Member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych). I was honoured to be selected as a Parliamentary Scholar for the Royal College of Psychiatrists' prestigious Parliamentary Scholar Scheme, a highly competitive programme recognising clinical and leadership excellence. As part of this scheme, I spent one day a week at the House of Lords, working alongside Peers with an active interest in mental health. It was a privilege to contribute to conversations that shape mental health legislation and policy at a national level, and the experience deepened my commitment to advocating for better mental health care beyond the consulting room.
Outside of medicine, I am a passionate sports fan, tennis, cricket and football are close to my heart. I firmly believe that a healthy mind and a healthy body are not separate goals but deeply interconnected ones. That philosophy shapes not just how I live, but how I approach the care I provide to every patient I see.
