Dr Sevag Ouzounian
GMC: 7457002
Dr Ouzounian is a Consultant Forensic Psychiatrist whose clinical background spans secure inpatient services, community forensic teams, general adult psychiatry, learning disability and neuropsychiatry. This experience has allowed him to work with individuals whose presentations are complex, overlapping or historically misunderstood. He has a specialist interest in neurodevelopmental conditions, including ADHD, autism and intellectual disability.
My Story
I started my postgraduate training in the North West London training scheme and completed my higher training, leading to a CCT in Forensic Psychiatry in the South London training scheme. As well as completing my training in Forensic Psychiatry, I have a BSc (with honours) degree in psychology.
I am a training programme director for core psychiatrist trainees, ensuring a high-level of training for resident psychiatrists.
My practice is rooted in a strengths-based, neurodiversity-affirming approach. I recognise that neurodevelopmental conditions often intersect with trauma, mood difficulties, anxiety disorders, emotional dysregulation, and social stressors. My assessments consider the whole person, their history, environment, strengths, traumas and challenges rather than focusing narrowly on symptoms.
I have completed accredited specialist training including:
-
UKAAN ADHD Assessment & Pharmacological Treatment
-
National Autism Training Programme for Psychiatrists
-
ADI-R training
-
Experience across intellectual disability, neuropsychiatry, and forensic neurodevelopmental cases
My aim is to provide clear, collaborative assessments and treatment plans that help individuals understand their minds, reduce self-blame, and utilising a trauma-focused approach. I strives to create a calm, respectful and validating environment where patients feel genuinely listened to, especially those who have previously struggled to have their needs recognised within services.
